The state level campaign of Action/2015: Light The Way was organized at Mysore on 23rd September 2015. Around 2000 young people were mobilized in a big auditorium of the Teresian College, Mysore. The programme included a meaningful power point presentation by Fr Francis John on the SDGs, public meeting attended by big dignitaries including the Bishop of Mysore, theme dance on the 17 SDGs, cultural program including DollaKunitha and GoravaKunitha, oath taking ceremony with lit candles, public rally and refreshments for all.
Prior to this, the campaign was organized in 10 districts of Karnataka. In each of the districts social and developmental issues were brought the notice of the authorities by taking pictures of children and young people holding lit candles or diyas. They would hold handles in front a poorly furnished school, bad roads, closed primary health centre, etc. Through these events, awareness was created on the sustainable development goals and urged the leaders to usher in a new age of development.
