On 27th November, 2014, Don Bosco Yuva Marg was blessed and inaugurated at Ramanagara Town in the presence of Children, Neighbours, Officials from various Government Departments, Salesians and Politicians. Yuva Marg is intended to be the extension centre of Don Bosco Ajjanahalli for carrying out its outreach programmes into the district of Ramanagara, Karnataka.
After the blessing of the rented space of Yuva Marg, Fr. Thomas Anchukandom, the Provincial, Province of Bangalore, in his presidential address, talked about the importance of networking with the Government and others to serve the deprived children/youth in the society. In his inaugural address, Shri.Raghukumar V, the Police Commissioner, Ramanagara, said that it is very important to address the issues such as child labour, education and child marriage while serving the young at risk in Ramanagara district. He also said that he knows Don Bosco’s work at other places in Karnataka and promised his whole hearted support for the initiatives of Don Bosco Yuva Marg in Ramanagara.
In his presentation to introduce Yuva Marg to the gathering at the inauguration function , Fr.Mathew Thomas, its Director said that Yuva Marg would address the following concerns and categories of deprived children/youth: child labour, education of out of school children, child marriage, homeless and orphan children, street children, children sexually abused, trafficked children, migrant children and youth, missing and runaway children, children from dysfunctional families, other child rights violations, unskilled migration of the young and their exploitation etc.
Shri. Puttasamy, DCPO, Fr. Michael, Vicar, Lourdes Church, Shri. Ramatulla Baig, the Municipal councilor, Ms. Nagalambike, Women Protection and WCD Welfare Officer and Kumari Amrutha, President, Child rights club spoke on the occasion to felicitate the new venture. The gathering was welcomed by Fr. CV George, the Rector and the vote of thanks was proposed by Fr. Shabu Francis, the Administrator.
The participants at the function were informed about the programmes and activities of Yuva Marg.
