BREADS is happy to remark the recognition for the impact of CREAM programme facilitated by BREADS and implemented in 10 districts of Karnataka by the Don Bosco partners. “Reducing Child Marriage in India – A model to scale up results” is a document brought out by Centre for Budget and Policy Studies in Bangalore with the support of Unicef in 2016. This document talks about the success in stopping child marriages as an result of holistic approach in CREAM programme. In page 26 it is stated as below “Child Rights Club: Transformation through education on child rights: Child Rights Education and Action Movement (CREAM), an initiative of Bangalore Rural Educational and Development Society (BREADS), has initiated awareness campaigns about child rights to different stakeholders through women self-help groups, Child Rights Clubs in schools, children’s gram sabhas and NGO task forces. Child marriage was one of the issues addressed during these campaigns. A number of child marriages (both individual and mass) were stopped by different district (e.g.,Davangere) task forces, using the Childline services. Source: BREADS Team”
