Children begging on the street are a distressful sight for child right activists. The social animators from Don Bosco Hosapete had come across children begging with their parents in Hosapete city. Hospet Railway Station, Saibaba Temple, Sannaki Veerabhadreswara Temple, APMC market and Jambunatha Road were identified as the prime locations to find children begging on the street. In the month of January Don Bosco Hosapete planned to put a check on the increasing trend in child beggary. They organised a raid and rescue of begging children’s found on the street accompanied or unaccompanied. Rescuing begging children accompanied with parents is not an easy deal, the collaboration of District Child Protection Unit Ballari, Destitute Rehabilitation center Ballari and Police Department was appreciated at this juncture.
During the course a total of 6 children were rescued from the street and brought to the Don Bosco center along with accompanied adults. After a basic assessment and counseling the children rescued were recommended to Govt. children Girls/Boys Homes at Ballari for further follow up and intervention.
