A workshop for the students and teachers was organised on 10 August 2022 at Government Higher Primary School (GHPS), Halebommanahalli, HB Halli taluk of Vijayanagara district, by Don Bosco Hospet under the project Child Rights Education and Action Movement (CREAM). The workshop was inaugurated by Mr. Masthak Ahamad, Education Coordinator, HB Halli taluk.
The objective of the workshop was to orient students and teachers about the rights of children and the role of teachers and adults in dealing with child-related issues. The workshop brought together 60 participants including thirty students and thirty teachers from 30 Government Higher Primary Schools (GHPS) and Government High Schools (GHS) from HB Halli taluk. During the workshop, the teachers and students were motivated and encouraged to form Child Rights Clubs (CRCs) in their respective schools. As resource material and a guide to forming CRCs in schools, each participant was given the Child Rights Club handbook and a manual on Child Rights prepared by Bangalore Rural Educational and Development Society (BREADS). The workshop was facilitated by Mr. G Chidananda, CHILDLINE Coordinator, and Mr. Sharanappa J, District CREAM Coordinator, Vijayanagara.
The other guests present on the occasion were Smt. Jayalaxmi, Vice President of High School Teachers Sangha (HSTS), HB Halli; Mr. Prakash, Treasurer of HSTS, and Mr. Kotresh S, Head Master, GHPS, Halebommanahalli.
