CHITHRA Don Bosco, under the CREAM Project (training for government officials), organized one-day training programme on CHILD RIGHTS AND JUVENILE JUSTICE ACT 2000 for the police personnel of Chitradurga District on 5 December 2014. There were forty seven police personnel of various ranks. The gathering showed great eagerness to know the implementation of the JJ Act. They were also introduced to Child Rights and issues related to children. The programme was inaugurated by Mr. M N Anucheth (Superintendent of Police), Mr. Syed Essac (DySP for Crime), Fr. Jude Anand (Vice Rector and Principal, Don Bosco, State School), Fr. Vincent Raj (Principal, Don Bosco Pre-University College) and Fr. Julian (Director, CHITHRA Don Bosco) were present. Mr. Anucheth stressed the role of police personnel in the implementation of the law and especially laws related to children and that all have to know the working nature of the law and not just the name of it. Mr. Manjunath H C (Don Bosco CHITHRA staff), Mr. Nelappa of CHITHRA (CREAM Staff) and Mr. Basavaraj (BOSCO, Bengaluru) were the resource persons. Mr. Syed Essac at the conclusion thanked CREAM CHITHRA Don Bosco for organizing such a wonderful workshop and along with the other police personnel present promised to put into practice the learning they had received.
