A day to enjoy and tickle your taste buds with a fusion of cuisines; relishing snacks, spices and sweets of India under a single roof. This one-of-a- kind event was organised at Don Bosco BREADS Employment and Skill Training Academy (DB BEST), Lingarajapuram, Bangalore on 12 July 2019. The event was inaugurated by Fr. Joy Nedumparambil, Executive Director, BREADS. The food carnival was organised by the students from the retail management course, under the able leadership of Fr. Rubin Mathew, Director, DB BEST Academy and Ms. Lesilen, Trainer, Retail management.
The students trained in retail management are exposed to real job experiences through a range of activities that could help them comprehend work life challenges, pressure and competence. Aiming for a similar experience, the food carnival was organised with the intention to train them on organisation, coordination, money management, and customer management skills. In preparation for the big day, the students invited BREADS staff and alumni with handmade cards. The way the event was organised and the attention paid to managing different food counters proved their enthusiasm, interest, efficiency and potential. The menu included parotas, meat dishes, juices, pani puris, flavoured rice, Gobi Manchurian, gulab jamuns and ice creams. A coupon system with different values was followed for buying food. On the whole, the students enjoyed the activity and made it a huge success.
