Don Bosco Hospete organized three days camp for the new and old Child Rights Clubs (CRC) from 13th to 15th October 2017 at Don Bosco Hospete. 75 children participated in this camp (35 children from old CRCs and 40 children from new CRCs). Ms.Vijaya Laxmi, Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee inaugurated the camp and Fr. Lawrence Director Don Bosco Hospete delivered the presidential address. Mr. L.D Jhoshi BEO Hospet taluk, Fr. Yesudas, Administrator, Don Bosco Hospete, Fr. Martin, Principal, Don Bosco School, Ms.Kalavathi Member, CWC, Ms. Pushpalatha, Member, CWC were the other dignitaries on the occasion. The three days camp dealt upon various topics related to children and child rights- Right to Survival, Right to Protection, Right to Development, Right to Participation, CHILDLINE, child helpline 1098, classes on communicable non communicable diseases, malnutrition, Gram Sabha, participation of children in Gram Sabhas, Advocacy through Child Rights Clubs, POCSO act, Children’s parliament, etc. The days were coupled with indoor and outdoor games, yoga, motivational videos, entertainment programmes, singing, dancing etc. The camp aimed at developing the leadership qualities of the children, bringing light to various child rights violations and how to respond to the atrocities, to bring out the violations to the notice of the departments related to children. The camp helped the children to spend the holidays very effectively, fruitfully and meaningfully.
