Over sixty members of Child Rights Clubs (CRC) from six different schools participated in the programme.

The children pointed out the poor infrastructure facilities in the schools, water and sanitation issues, alcoholism, hooliganism and littering of waste in the school surroundings.

Speaking on the occasion, Y Mariswamy, Member, Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KSCPCR), said that, “Children are our priority and it is the bound duty of the government and civil society to create a child-friendly society”. He exhorted the concerned authorities to look into the issues raised by children with immediate effect.

Keshav Murthy, Corporator, Ward 137, Bangalore, responding to the issues raised by children said, measures are being taken to effectively manage the waste and funds are allocated to improve the school infrastructure. Narasimhamurthy, ASI, JJR Nagar, Bangalore, assured the children to step up the safety measures and to bring down the antisocial elements in the area.
