Don Bosco Youth Centre kept up its annual tradition of hosting a vibrant BOSCO Cup between 3-10 May 2026 at Don Bosco College Mannuthy. This year, it collaborated with BREADS’ Sports for Change initiative, to organise a week-long celebration of football, sportsmanship, and youth participation, bringing together talented football players and sports enthusiasts from across Kerala.
The event featured two major competitions:
• Sevens Floodlit Football Tournament for the Under-15 Boys Category, involving nearly 80 young footballers competing in 8 teams. One of these teams was the Sports for Change (SFC) team, comprising of selected players from the various SFC academies. Though they did not win, the exposure to competitive play was highly valuable. Fantastic Eleven Pavaratti, a local Thrissur team, won the tournament in this category.
• All Kerala Sevens Championship for senior clubs attracted 8 teams, who competed in a series of thrilling matches that attracted enthusiastic community participation throughout the tournament. Vaiga FC Mayilipuram 7s took home the cup.
In addition to the team trophies and cash awards, individuals were recognised as Best Goalkeeper, Best Defender, Best Forward, Best Player of the Tournament, and Top Scorer, to appreciate the outstanding performances of players across both categories.
Dr. Niji Justin, Honourable Mayor of Thrissur, along with the Salesian fathers and dignitaries from the Don Bosco institutions in Mannuthy, graced the concluding award ceremony.
Bosco Cup 2026 is locally recognised as a vibrant celebration of football and youth empowerment, promoting sportsmanship, leadership, discipline, and community engagement through sports, in line with the vision of Sports for Change, using football as a tool for holistic youth development and positive social transformation.
