The women from Ayamkunnu panchayat (Kannur, Kerala), have started a food processing unit, “Thanima”, with the support of the Women Empowerment through Livelihood and Entrepreneurship (WELivE) project of BREADS. All five women were happy to have their enterprise inaugurated by Mr. Kuriachan Payampallikunnel (President, Ayamkunnu panchayat) in the presence of Fr. Sojan Pananchickal (District Director WELivE), Ms. Lissy Thomas (Panchayat VP), Ms. Mini Viswanathan (Standing Committee Chairperson) and Mr. Bijoy (Ward member). The women are excited at their fresh start in life, making and packaging snack items and pickles to generate an income. They look forward to overcoming all odds to prove their worth in society.
