Don Bosco Child Labour Mission (DBCLM) has been rehabilitating child labourers for the past 19 years. So far DBCLM has rehabilitated 1882 child labourers and school dropouts. In view of the bicentenary celebrations of Bosco Bosco’s birth about 100 rehabilitated past students of DBCLM gathered together for a day of sharing, renewing and empowering.
Inaugurating the programme Mrs VasanthaKumari CWC member addressed these youngsters and shared elaborately the problems that the youngsters of today face. She said that youngsters should be guided by principles in life not just by emotions. Fr Joy Nedumparambil SDB, the Executive Director of BREADS Bangalore was the Chief Guest for the function. Talking during the inauguration Mr. Mounesh(traffic police DVG, a past pupil of DBCLM) said that if not for Don Bosco he would have been one among the unemployed youth. It was only because DBCLM rescued him he got a good education. He says he is proud to be a member of Don Bosco family. He urged the youngsters not to get discouraged in life and keep on trying and excel in all that they do in life. Fr Kuriakose, the Director of DBCLM also addressed the gathering.
Fr. Michel and Fr. Maria Anand handled the motivation sessions. Before we concluded there was common sharing wherein they shared their experiences at large. Mr. Shamiyulla said that mutual support can at times be of great help in crucial moments of life. All in one voice said everything was possible only because of Don Bosco.
