The battle against drugs clearly needs to be taken to the street as drug addiction has become all-pervasive in the state of Kerala. To eradicate the scourge of substance abuse from our society and to create awareness among people, Drug Rehabilitation Education and Mentoring (DREAM) Kollam, teamed up with the volunteers from MM NSS College Kottiyam, to conduct street plays at Chinnakada Bus Stand and Kollam beach on 9 March 2022. The play dramatised various phases and contributing factors in a drug addict’s life: the kind of company he keeps, peer group pressure, the time that he starts taking drugs, to his eventual enslavement; so much, that he has to steal, beg and borrow to get drugs. Through this campaign, DREAM Kollam has sensitised hundreds of people on the adverse effects of drugs.
