We are delighted to introduce the ‘Swasraya Biriyani Hut & Catering unit’! This is an initiative under the WELiVE Project by BREADS Bangalore and Don Bosco Sulthan Bathery. The idea of this eatery started with a group of 10 ladies in the 4 Cent Colony in Sulthan Bathery Municipality, Wayanad. These members were motivated by the WELivE Team to start an Income Generation Programme. After multiple discussions about their area of interest, strengths, and the possible challenges of starting a business- the women planned to start a Biriyani hut and catering unit.
Eventually, on August 8, 2021, ‘Swasraya Biriyani Hut’ was inaugurated by Fr Johnson Ponthempilly, Director, WELivE Wayanad, and Fr Thomas Poovelickal, Rector, DB Community, Sulthan Bathery. Mr. Assis Madala, Councilor, Sulthan Bathery Municipality, and Mr. Sabu Joseph, Project Coordinator, WELivE Wayanad, were also present during the event.
The women were encouraged to keep up their entrepreneurial spirit and work as a team!
