Don Bosco Child Labour Mission (DBCLM) Davangere conducted a press meet at Pathrika Bhavana, Haveri district on 23 January 2021 under the Child Rights Education and Action Movement (CREAM) programme. The objective was to create awareness in the district on child rights education, protection of children from vulnerabilities, and support for children in crisis situations. The press meet covered the scenario of children and women in Haveri district as per the National Family Health Survey 2019-20.
During the press meet Fr. Cyril Sagayaraj SDB, Director-DBCLM explained the importance of providing child rights education to children and the important programmes of CREAM. In Haveri district the CREAM programme will closely collaborate with the departments at the district, taluk, and gram panchayat level in providing child rights education in government schools, the formation of child rights clubs, child protection committees at the gram panchayat level, effective implementation of children’s special gram sabha and workshops for the teachers and stakeholders. At the end of the press meet, Fr. Cyril along with the CREAM staff, introduced the BREADS’ modules on Child Rights Education and a handbook on Child Rights Clubs.
