Scripting the Future of 81 Youth through Skilling

The skill training programme of DB BEST Academy has made timely interventions in the lives of 644 youth when their lives were on pause, helping them rescript their stories. The recent Batch 10 of 81 youth was no different. The certification of Batch 10 and the inauguration of Batch 11 of 63 youth were organised on 8 February 2020 at DB BEST Academy, Bangalore.

The auspicious event saw the presence of the corporate partners of the skill programme, namely, Mr. Jeetendra- Assistant Manager Deutsche Bank, Ms. Mamtha- Deutsche Bank, Mr. Ben Subbarao-Senior HR Manager, GrassRoots, Mr. Collin Periera- DGM Operations Embassy Group, Ms. Raj Nalini Singh, Ms. Ambika Tiwari and Mr. Eshan Gosh- Accenture. The other dignitaries were Fr. M.K George- Rector, Don Bosco Provincial House, Fr. Joy Nedumparambil- Executive Director, BREADS, Fr. Rubin Mathew- Director, DB BEST Academy, Ms. Pani Malar- CSR Manager, BREADS and Mr. Kennedy-Centre Coordinator, DB BEST Academy.

After an invocation of God’s blessings through a prayer song by Mr. Sivaiah, the dignitaries were welcomed warmly by Mr. Kennedy.  The traditional lamp-lighting ceremony marked the inauguration of Batch 11, also symbolic of the hope for a bright future for the youth. Fr. Rubin Mathew congratulated the Batch 10 graduates who had acquired jobs successfully by their determination and encouraged the others to keep trying for higher achievements. Fr. Joy Nedumparambil recalled the entire journey of the Academy since its inception and advised the students to overcome any challenges and obstacles, and keep moving forward to reach success. Fr. M.K George appreciated the staff and others who are passionately involved in uplifting the lives of youth through skill trainings and wished the students the best for their future endeavours. Mr. Ben Subbarao, Ms. Nalini Raj Singh, Mr. Collin Pereira and Mr. Jeetendra Kumar shared their various experiences of corporate partnerships with BREADS and DB BEST Academy and also motivated the students to make their best efforts and use of the opportunity. Four students from Batch 10 shared their experience in the Academy and insisted that though it was a short-term course, the memories and impact it  created on each of them would last a lifetime. Nine students- three from each domain were selected for ‘The Best Student Award’ based on their attendance, discipline, volunteering, involvement and commitment during their training. The students of Batch 10 received their course completion certificates from the dignitaries in awe and joy. The newly-enrolled Batch 11 entertained their seniors with cultural events and games, which provided many moments to create fond relationships and memories with each other.
