In the light of increasing cases of child laborers, a rally was organized on 12th June 2018 on the occasion of World Day Against Child Labour at T. Narsipura, Mysore. The Block Education Officer inaugurated the rally and witnessed the participation of about 700 children. The rally marked the presence of the Head Masters, teachers, parents, SDMC, media along with the CREAM team. Children were seen holding placards about pressing issues that concern them such as – child labor, child marriage and accessing the Right to Education (RTE). They took to the streets of TN Pura in an attempt to create awareness about the ill-effects involving child laborers and the consequences of giving under-aged kids away for child marriages. All the stake holders strongly supported the rally. Subsequently, a public meeting was organized in the compound of Government High School where the BEO spoke about the ‘Anti Child-Labor Day’. He mentioned how western countries like Japan and Israel, even though being smaller countries than India have managed to progress so well within such a short span of time. The rally and the public gathering strongly conveyed the message against child labour and the importance of sending children to schools than to factory.
