Don Bosco Tech (DB Tech) has taken up several path breaking initiatives to empower the young people of our nation. Today we are operating in 24 states and union territories of India making its presence felt as one of the significant NGOs with Pan India presence in the skill training arena.
There has been immense effort from the Don Bosco Tech Management, Provincial Resource Teams, Local/ State Teams and many other others in catering to the needs of the youth who are deserving. The average age in India is only 24. By 2020, our average age will be 29, while China and US’s average age will be 37 and 38 years respectively. To ‘utilise’ such a demographic dividend, India has to put education and skill development in right order. During 2011- 12, Don Bosco Tech started training programmes in tough terrains like Jammu & Kashmir, North East and areas of Central India. DB Tech has made phenomenal growth in setting up processes and systems for training and employment. The standardization of the centres with regards to lab setting, approved curricula, assessment, and employable skills add value to the training. We have embarked on digital content for multiple trades and will be launched in the coming year. It is also the responsibility of the training institutions to provide jobs at the completion of the training.  The successful placement after the training has also provided credibility and confidence among stakeholders to partner with DB Tech. To maintain the quality and scale, the staff training programmes are prepared and conducted so that everyone is aware and becomes part of the mission.
During 2015-16, DB Tech touched and shaped the lives of 35,418 needy youth, who were trained in more than 12 job-oriented courses; and of which more than 27,643 were given wage based job opportunities with our placement partners. The partner organizations like Jaguar Foundation, Rajasthan Skills and Livelihoods Development Corporation (RSLDC), GSK, HDB, NTPC, Power Grid, APSSDC, Swadesh Foundation, Titan, Selco Foundation and UNDP have been advantageous for the youth through skill training and placement opportunities. In a bid to upscale and widen our intervention in skill sector, DB Tech Society has affiliated with 11 Sector Skills Councils for 41 job roles, which would give an opportunity to our trainees among wider choices to opt for and learn sustainable skills. In the age of technology, we have partnered with partners like Siemens, Knowledge Podium, Wadhwani Foundation, etc. to develop and deliver digital content which will be easily accessible and effective in the longer run.
The progress that we are able to make in skill training is due to the support and collaboration of the Ministry of Rural Development, State Governments, NSDC, Corporates, funding partners, Salesians, Network Partners and a team of dedicated staff.
