Don Bosco PYaR, Kalaburgi organized three days residential CRC leaders’ training as a part of Child Rights Education and Action Movement (CREAM) programme. The 70 child leaders for the training were selected from the new Child Rights Club formed at different schools in 10 villages of 7 talukas at Gulbarga. On 19 October 2016 the training was inaugurated by Mr. Vital Chikni, member CWC, Kalaburgi. Mr. Shivanand Anajigi Member CWC, Kalaburgi, Rohan CRC leader, Geetha CRC leader and Fr. Saji, Director DB PYaR presided over the function. In the evening, Members of the Legislative Committee on Women and Child Welfare addressed the CRC leaders at Don Bosco PYaR. During the programme all Child Rights Club leaders attending the training had the rare opportunity to interact with the democratic leader MLA Mr. N. A. Harris and the CWC Legislative Committee, to get the feel of being leaders in the society. Mr. Harris MLA, CWC Committee chairman encouraged the children in their initiative to be part of the CRC (Child Rights Club) and involving in the governance of the respective villages and schools. Mr. Harris also released the three year plan for Child Rights Education & Action Movement – Phase II (CREAM 2), to mark the occasion. The Panel members Y. Ramakka , Jayamma, Vinisha Nero, N. Appaji Gowda, S. Veena Achhaiah with Additional SP Bidar and many other government dignitaries were present for the program. Mr. N. Shahikumar, Superintendent of Police, Kalaburagi led the team to Don Bosco PYaR, Kalaburgi. The children were very happy that they could interact with the higher government officials and the officials being very friendly made it easy for the children. The officials were very impressed that, the children are able to participate in attainment their rights and advocate for child rights for other children. The three days leadership training continued, where children were educated about child rights, empowerment, participation, advocacy at government level and leadership. The training came to an end by 21 October 2016.
