The Karnataka Interstate Migrants Alliance for Transformation (KISMAT— a BREADS’ project) conducted an awareness programme for migrant workers on government schemes for 52 migrant workers at Veerannapalya in Bangalore on 8 February 2023. The migrants are employed as construction and daily wage workers.
During the session, the migrants were encouraged to ask questions and clarify doubts about government schemes. The interactive session helped the migrants understand various schemes such as Kalyana Mandali, Ayushman Bharat, eShram and Labour Cards, and to identify the ones most relevant to their needs.
The awareness programme was well received by the migrant workers, who appreciated the efforts made by KISMAT to educate them about the various government schemes available for their benefit. The migrants expressed their desire to avail the benefits of these schemes, to improve their livelihoods and living conditions in Bangalore.
