‘Shale Kade Nanna Nade’ Campaign in Karnataka

‘Shale Kade Nanna Nade’ is a massive campaign initiated by Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KSCPCR) in collaboration with concerning Government departments and other organisations working for the same cause. The campaign aims at enrolling the school dropout and out of school children back to school in the academic year 2016 – 2017. It is happening in every district throughout Karnataka with the support of DCPOs. The first step is to give awareness on the need of enrolling the children back to school, then identifying the children in need and finally enrolling the children into schools at the earliest. Don Bosco centers in Karnataka have taken an active role in the ‘Shale Kade Nanna Nade’ campaign to bring back the children to schools with the help of Child Rights Clubs formed.

Don Bosco Yadagiri had organized an awareness programme on the concept for representatives from Child Rights Clubs formed in schools. An average of 6 CRC members from 14 villages, a total of 77 children took part in the programme. The children were oriented on the ‘Shale Kade Nanna Nade’ campaign, including the importance of education for all children, plight of children out of school, how they can bring back their friends to school. The CRC members felt proud and responsible about the duty entrusted to them. These children will act as child ambassadors in each village to bring back the children to school and protect children’s right to education. On 26th May, the Sub Inspector of Police and Deputy Director of Public Instruction, in front of department of Public Instruction office inaugurated an awareness rally by children which went around in the city and was concluded by a motivational speech of S. N. Jadhav, the Deputy Director for DWCD, Yadagiri.
