Awareness on menstrual hygiene and distribution of sanitary pads

When it comes to menstrual hygiene and health, it has been seen that women and girls living in rural areas, urban slums, shelter homes and economically poor households face multiple challenges ranging from lack of awareness to lack of access to safe menstrual products.

In this context, BREADS Bangalore in association with PadSquad and Don Bosco Devadurga, distributed 2000 biodegradable sanitary pads through the “Primary healthcare and health education through mobile clinic” (a project of BREADS) in Devadurga taluk of Raichur district. The mobile clinic reached out to Medinapur, Anchesugur, Shankarabandi, Miyyapur and Kotigudda villages benefitting more than 400 women. Biodegradable pads were also distributed to the girl children of Girl’s Boarding and Child Labour Center benefitting a total of 95 children. This indeed helps in working towards promoting safe and sustainable menstrual hygiene and mitigating the effects of COVID-19 on the menstrual health of women and girls in need.
