CHILDREN’S DAY AT KALABURAGI

Children’s day was celebrated at Don Bosco PYaR, Kalaburagi on November 14, 2015.“Children are special and every single day should be celebrated as children’s Day. All should join hands in protecting the rights of children and women”, said Vipul Bansal IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Kalaburagi.Anandraj, Director, Margadarshi Society, Kalaburagi in his keynote address said that every child in need of care and protection should contact CHILDLINE 1098. “An ideal society is a society that respects and protects its children”, said Fr. Saji SDB, Executive Director, Don Bosco, Kalaburagi.TippannaSirsagi, DCPO, Kalaburagi andProf.LingarajKonin, Seth ShankarlalLahoti Law College, Kalaburagi spoke on the occasion.

CHILDLINE Se Dosthi Week

Vipul Bansal IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Kalaburagi, inaugurated CHILDLINE Se Dosthi Week by releasing the poster. ‘CHILDLINE Se Dosti Week’, the week after Children’s Day is set apart to spread awareness and build goodwill. The audience repeated an oath to protect and promote child rights pronounced by the Deputy Commissioner. In a symbolic gesture to become friends of CHILDLINE and children, CHILDLINE Suraksha Band was tied on the hands of the dignitaries by child representatives.

Competitions

Drawing and essay competitions were organized for the children prior to the cultural programme. ‘Child rights: Protection and Promotion’ was the theme for the competitions. Over two hundred children from eleven surrounding villages and the inmates of Don Bosco rehabilitation centres participated in the competitions. The winners received prizes from Vipul Bansal IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Kalaburagi.

Vital Chikani, Member, CWC, Kalaburagi, Bharatesh Shilvantar and Santhosh Kulkarni, DCPU, Kalaburagi, Irene Lobo, Karnataka Domestic Workers Union, Kalaburagi, Lourd Mary, Member, Juvenile Justice Board, Kalaburagi, Basavaraj Tengli, District Coordinator, CHILDLINE, and project staff participated in the programme.
