BOSCO, Bangalore organized training program on ‘child rights and child related issues’ for the community leaders of J.J.R Nagar, Shivajinagar, K.R. Market, Flower Garden, J.C Road, Nelamangala, Ranasinghpet, Chaluvadhipalya and Tippu nagar on March 24, 2018 at BOSCO Nilaya, Bangalore under the CREAM project.
In the inaugural address, Dr. Aslam Khan, State President of urdu schools, J.J.R Nagar, Bangalore said, ‘Child is for learning not for earning’. Mr. Jabeen Taj, CRP, Padarayanapura Cluster, Bangalore urged the organisations to encourage and support government schools. Fr. Regi Jacob, Director, BOSCO Nilaya talked about importance of being human and treating everyone with equal rights. Mr. Ramaswamy, Coordinator, CREAM, BOSCO Bangalore, briefed the purpose and the objectives of the program. The sessions were about protocols for social security and its importance, procedure for RTE schemes, child protection mechanisms, combatting child marriage and child labour.
Mr. Shivamallu, Coordinator, Foster Care Program, BOSCO Bangalore, briefly explained the procedures required for adoption and foster care. The leaders of the community pledged to stop child labour in their respective communities. Forty-one community leaders attended the program.
