The core team for the project “Empowering Children through Education and Child Rights Promotion,” supported by Azim Premji Foundation (APF), met on 15 December 2023 at the APF District Institute, Kalaburagi. The meeting was attended by Mr. Rudresh, State Head, Mr. Mahadevappa, Mr. Uday, and five district coordinators from the Azim Premji Foundation. Representing BREADS were Fr. George PS, Executive Director, Mr. Benny Augustine, and Mr. Jinu Mathew. Additionally, project directors and district coordinators from five locations—Yadagir, Kalaburagi, Raichur, Vijayanagara, and Bidar—participated in the meeting. The session commenced with a welcome by Mr. Mahadev, followed by Mr. Rudresh outlining the overall objectives of the meeting and providing a brief overview of Azim Premji Foundation, including its origin and interventions.
Following that, the BREADS team presented the project’s overall goal, outcomes, and programme design, elucidating the envisaged activities. Each district then made presentations on the project’s status, providing updates on activities carried out from July to November 2023. The implementing partners from the five districts also shared their insights about the current status of the project which reaches 6820 children through 150 centres in 61 villages.
Subsequently, the discussions focused on other aspects, including capacity-building sessions for community organisers, establishing connections with schools in working areas to facilitate closer collaboration with teachers, supporting summer camp activities, and developing a curriculum for the activity centres.
