Don Bosco Centre for Social Action, Yadgir, organised a two-day training on 4-5 December 2023, for 32 staff members as part of the Empowering Children through Education and Child Rights Promotion initiative. This initiative is a collaborative effort between Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiatives (APPI) and Bangalore Rural Educational and Development Society (BREADS). The training was facilitated by Mr. Umashankar Periyodi, Mr. Mahadeva Mulagi and Ms. Akshata from the Azim Premji Foundation at the Don Bosco Centre for Social Action.
The training focused on helping staff to understand the process of learning through activities in the thirty activity centres for children. Various practical methods were employed, such as storytelling based on different paper crafts, theme-based group dramas, preparation of paper arts, writing rhyming poems, and making puppets. These activities would be effective ways to engage children in different forms of creative and interactive learning experiences.
The training included a discussion on the New Education Policy 2020, exploring its aims and objectives, with a specific emphasis on how the policy promotes creativity among students. The two-day session concluded with an evaluation and feedback session, ensuring continuous improvement and effectiveness in the teaching methodologies applied.
This training played a crucial role in equipping the staff with innovative and effective teaching techniques, contributing to the enhancement of the quality of education and the empowerment of children in the supported activity centres.
