International women’s day was organized at Chithra Don Bosco, Chitradurga to celebrate the achievements and accomplishments of women and to gain momentum towards gender equality and empowerment. The day was celebrated on the theme: “Time is Now: Rural and urban activists transforming women’s lives”. The eminent personalities- Ms. Savitha, Raindrop NGO, Ms. Venkata Ratna, Samakhya Samaste, Dr. Isabella.s. Xavier, Sadhana women and child welfare society, Dharward, Ms. Sharavathi, S.I, mahila police station, Ms. Vaishali.J, DCPO, Chitradurga spoke and shared their views on enormous potentials of women and the need to transform the lives of rural women through improved livelihood and well-being. The life has been challenging but worth the struggle and shouted in single voice that they are proud to be women. On the occasion, the members of Self-Help Groups opened stalls to exhibit and sell their home made edible and decorative items attracting the attention of everyone. The presence of 300 women participants ravished the celebration. The day was complete in its sense by the outcome it brought on the beneficiaries.
