On 20 November 2023, Don Bosco Social Service Society, Devadurga, Raichur district, organised a significant event combining Children’s Day, the observation of Child Rights Day, and a Parents’ Meeting at Teggihal village in Mustur gram panchayat, Devadurga taluk. This event was organised under “Empowering Children through Education and Child Rights Promotion,” a collaborative initiative involving Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiatives (APPI) and Bangalore Rural Educational and Development Society (BREADS).
During the parents’ meeting, Fr. John Paul, Director of Don Bosco Social Service Society, and Mr. Siddalingappa, District Coordinator, reiterated the importance and value of education, the identification of school dropouts, and the pivotal role that parents play in supporting and educating their children. The meeting saw the active participation of parents from three activity centres in the village. Community leaders and gram panchayat members also were present, highlighting the community-wide significance of the event. It created awareness and introduced a positive spirit in the community.
Following the informative meeting, the children captivated the audience with their performances, including dance, speeches, and songs. The event celebrated the talents of the children and also provided them a platform to showcase their various artistic expressions. About 140 children actively participated in the event.
Don Bosco Social Service Society has been consistently organising Children’s Day celebrations, the observation of Child Rights Day, and parents’ meetings across its 30 activity centres, ensuring a widespread impact on the well-being and development of children.
