BREADS, in collaboration with Don Bosco Aluva, inaugurated the Don Bosco Sports Hub on 15 August 2025, as part of its Sports for Change initiative. The new centre marks a significant step towards promoting holistic development, and a drug-free lifestyle among children and youth in the local community.
Noted film artist Mr. Bineesh Bastin graced the inauguration ceremony, along with members of the Salesian management, children and their parents and well-wishers. Mr. Bineesh Bastin’s presence highlighted the role of art and sports as transformative forces in the lives of young people. The event drew more than 250 students and their parents, reflecting strong community support for this initiative.
After the formal ceremony, the playgrounds came alive with spirited football matches across different age categories. The energy of the children and the active encouragement of their parents created a lively atmosphere that captured the essence of community engagement. Every child who took part received a jersey, football boots and essential playing gear, ensuring they were well-prepared to continue their sporting journey. Winners and participants were also recognised with awards, celebrating both achievement and participation.
The Don Bosco Sports Hub in Aluva is envisioned as a vibrant centre for nurturing young talent and instilling values of discipline, teamwork and resilience through sports. By combining physical activity with positive social values, the initiative aims to guide children away from harmful influences while promoting a healthy and purposeful lifestyle.
Through this new sports hub, BREADS and Don Bosco Aluva reaffirm their commitment to empowering young people and communities by using sports as a catalyst for holistic growth and positive change.
