Together for the Earth: BREADS Leads Statewide Action for World Environment Day 2025

In honour of World Environment Day 2025, BREADS Bangalore, in collaboration with various Don Bosco centres and institutional partners, organised a month-long campaign during June, of largescale awareness and activities across Karnataka. Aligned with the global theme “Beat Plastic Pollution”, the initiative encouraged youth and communities to take practical steps toward environmental sustainability.

More than 20 locations saw simultaneous environmental campaigns featuring tree plantation drives, awareness rallies, art and speech competitions and community cleanup efforts. The campaign mobilised thousands of children, youth, educators and government officials, reinforcing the importance of collective responsibility for environmental preservation.

At Don Bosco Makkalalaya, over 100 fruit-bearing and oxygen-producing saplings were planted across homes, schools, police stations and care institutions. Creative games and an environmental pledge added fun and a reflective layer to the event.

In Yadagiri, Don Bosco Centre for Social Action organised a plantation drive and seminar with guests from the DLSA, Forest Department, CWC and Don Bosco leadership, who encouraged responsible ecological behaviours and highlighted youth participation.

Similar activities were conducted in Davanagere, Hospet, Mandaknalli, and surrounding villages. From classroom workshops to village rallies, participants were educated on reducing plastic use, conserving natural resources and adopting sustainable habits in their everyday life.

World Environment Day 2025 was part of  BREADS’ ongoing efforts to promote environmental consciousness. With broad community support and youth at the forefront, the campaign reinforced the message that environmental action is a shared, daily responsibility. Through these united efforts, BREADS and its partners continue to sow the seeds of a greener, healthier future.
