Children’s Special Grama Sabhe

Don Bosco Hospet organised the Children’s Special Grama Sabhe Program at Amrapura village grama panchayat Ballari (Tq) on 24-11-2015. Mr. Krishnappa PDO, Mr. Anumesh GP President, Mrs. Sakku Bai School H M, Mr. Prakash.G Coordinator CREAM were on the dais along with two child representatives. Mr.Eshwaraiah – Child labour Dept., 6 GP Members, Angnawadi Teachers, Ahsa workers (Health workers) were the other key players present for the programme. The participants were 95 school children along with teachers from 6 different schools of the Amrapura village mainly from upper primary and high school. Amarapura primary school had taken a great initiative to support and participate in the programme. A total of 115 members were present to make the programme a great success.

Mr. Prakash G. – Coordinator CREAM set the stage by briefing the concept and objectives of Children’s special Grama Sabhe and child rights. Mr. Eshwaraiah, Child labour Dept., did speak about child labor Act-1986 rules and regulations during his presidential note. The highlight was the children were very sure about the concerns they had to discuss with the authorities. Few crucial concerns raised by the children are as follows 1) No supply of drinking water for children at school. 2) The school compound is not clean and viable for education 3) There is no school compound wall nor gate 4) There is a urgency to give awareness on education to restraint school dropouts. 5) An earnestness appeal to protect girls from eve teasing and ridiculing on their way to school. The authorities have agreed to resolve the problems with immediate effect. They also made it a point to get the concerns or complaints get it in writing to speed up the process.
