Children’s Grama Sabhe at Hosapete

Don Bosco Hosapete took lead in organising and conducting the special child rights grama sabhe program at Grama panchayat No-10, Muddapura village, Hosapete Taluk Ballari District on 16-11-2016 at 11:00 am. Participants for the programme were Mr. Raghavendra Child Welfare Committee Chairperson, Ballari, Mr. Beeralinga PDO, Mrs. Mahantamma President GP, Mr. Shivamurhti Member Taluka panchayat Hosapete, Mr. P. Husensab Police Sub Inspector Kampli, Mrs. Nagaveni Supervisor woman and child welfare Department, Ms. Saravanimali Patel Social Activist CREAM, Anganavadi workers, Asha workers (Health workers), Grama Panchayat Members. A total of 125 members (85 children) were present including 50 children and 5 Teachers from 5 village school along with all children from 5th to 8th standard of Muddapura primary school. Mr. Raghavendra Child Welfare Committee President Ballari, spoke about program concept, objectives of children Grama sabhe and child rights. Mr. Hsensab Sub-inspector of Police spoke about parents’ role in sending children daily to school without fail. Mrs. Nagaveni, requested Grama panchayat officials for giving place for Anganavadi centre in a build at village.

Then children asked the questions about their problems to Grama Panchyat PDO, President, Members and other guests. The requests put forward were

Q-1) Appoint school teachers for specific subjects

Q-2) Make arrangements to clean school campus and make it viable for games

Q-3) Provide Science labs facilitates

Q-4) Protect the school going girl children from eve teasing and goons

Q-5) Proper mid-day meals to be served in school

Q-6) Need of proper toiles in the school

All the officials present during the progrmmme has agreed to solve all the problems raised by the children at the earliest. Children were also suggested to present a memorandum to PDO citing all these issues. Children dispersed from the programme with great relief that they could raise voice for their rights and the problems are to be solved soon.
