DB BREADS’ Employment & Skill Training Academy for Youth

DB BREADS’ Employment and Skill Training Academy (DB BEST Academy) located at 14th Cross, Gundappa Mutt Road, across Don Bosco Church, Lingarajapuram, Bangalore was blessed and inaugurated on 10 October 2016.  The foundation stone for the four-storey building was laid on 9th July 2016 by Rev. Fr. Joyce Thonikuzhiyil, Provincial, Salesian Province of Bangalore. It took more than a year of hard work for the realization of the center. The blessing ceremony started with a small prayer and the plaque was unveiled by Rev. Fr. Joyce Thonikuzhiyil. Mr. Rakesh Gajaria, Vice President, Operational Tax Utility, Deutsche Bank, Bangalore and Mr. Solomon Devaraj, Chief Corporate Responsibility Officer, AXA Business Services, Bangalore together inaugurated the building by cutting the ribbon. Ms. Felicita Shanthy, Director, Human Resourse, TAJ, Bangalore inaugurated the mock suite room – the lab for hospitality management. The inaugural function started with prayer followed by welcoming the guest by Fr. Joy, Executive Director, BREADS Bangalore. Fr. Joyce Thonikuzhiyil, Provincial, Salesian Province of Bangalore gave the presidential address and Fr. Ittira Mondoth, Rector Don Bosco Provincial House, Bangalore gave a message relevant to the occasion. The other dignitaries felicitated during the occasion were Mr. Rakesh Gajaria, Vice President, Operational Tax Utility, Deutsche Bank, Bangalore; Mr. Solomon Devaraj, Chief Corporate Responsibility Officer, AXA Business Services, Bangalore; Fr. Arul Maran, Director Don Bosco Skill Mission, Bangalore and Ms. Felicita Shanthy, Director, Human Resource, TAJ, Bangalore. AXA business Services expressed their willingness to partner in training students by endowing a cheque of their contribution to the Provincial. Fr. Jose Koyickal, Vice-provincial, Salesian Province, Bangalore honoured the dignitaries, Mr. Adhithya Varma– Architect; Mr. Biju Kolamkuzhi – Contractor and few other workers with shawl and memento for their seamless contribution towards the accomplishment of the center.  Fr. Jeeson Nelluvelil, Assistant Director, BREADS & Regional Coordinator, DB Tech, extended his vote of thanks to one and all present for the ceremony.

DB Best Academy will work towards the holistic empowerment of youth; help them acquire skills in hospitality, retail management and BPO. All students will be given additional inputs in spoken English, basic computer and life skills. The academy building consist of class rooms, digital class room, computer labs, Food and Beverage lab, Mock Suite room, staff rooms, Dormitory for students etc. The students between the age of 18 to 30 will be considered for training with education qualification above 10th standard. The DB BEST Academy will be functional by mid October 2016.
