Skill training in bee keeping for SHG members by DISA, Angadikadavu, Kannur

Don Bosco Initiative for Social Action (DISA), (an extension wing of the Department of Social Work of Don Bosco Arts and Science College, Angadikadavu, Kannur) organized the skill training in honey bee keeping for 35 SHG members on 7th and 8th of December 2017. The Training was led by a team under the supervision of Mr. K M Shankarankutty, a person with more than 10 years of experience in the area of honey bee keeping and marketing of honey products. The main objective of the training was to provide skill training   in Apiculure for SHG women members and to support them in the areas of production and marketing. The sessions were more focused on the specifications of honey boxes, life period of bee, importance of honey wax, uses of honey wax for medicinal purposes. In the following sessions more information was provided about effective marketing technology, the scope of apiwax, bee-venom therapy. The participants were eager to enhance the knowledge in bee keeping and to know the value of honey and practice of apiculture.
