International Women’s Day is a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities. The international Women’s Day was celebrated for the members of Self-Help Groups under the auspices of CREAM Project at BOSCO Nilaya, Bangalore on 8th March 2018. The women gathered to mark global celebration of women’s social, political, and cultural achievements from the past and present, while pushing for progress for future generations.
The Bosco centre has rescued many young girls at risk since established. The core objective of the celebration was to turn the spark in women to a raging fire that would light up the world and warm the hearts to continue the good work. The official program was started with the key note address by Fr. Regi Jacob, the Director of Bosco Nilaya, who said that no life can exist without women. The participants were enlightened by Mrs. Malarvizhi Balachandar, the Program Officer, Action Aid, who quoted that men and women are equal and this makes a difference on how women ought to deal with each other to organize legally, politically, socially and economically. The Executive Director, Fr. Mathew Thomas mentioned the remarkable contributions of women in society. The centre has rescued 7866 children from terrible life situations during the year 2016-2017 among them, 956 were girl children. The joint work and collaboration can make a change in society to build a better place to live. The chief guest, Ms. Sharanamma, Women Constable from Cottonpet promised the support of women assistance wing established at every police station for the protection of women. The presence of Fr.
