WELivE Wayanad was officially inaugurated on 13th February 2021 Saturday. WELivE Wayanad is being implemented in two municipal corporations of Wayanad district- Sulthan Bathery and Kalpetta. Around 260 women were selected to be the beneficiaries of this project.
Fr. Johnson Ponthempilly, WELivE Wayand director and the Asst. Principal of Don Bosco college Sulthan Bathery gave the welcome address to all the dignitaries and participants. In his speech, he briefly mentioned the main objectives of the project. Fr. Thomas Poovelikkal, Rector of the Don Bosco College, who was presiding over the meeting, talked about the current situation of village women and the difficulties they find in their daily life.
Mrs. Sajitha P, (Mission Coordinator – Kudumbashree Wayand) was the chief guest of the meeting. In her motivating inaugural speech, she insisted on the importance of women’s SHGs in rural as well as urban areas. She informed about many upcoming government projects for the upliftment of village women. Bro. Philip Christudas gave a felicitation speech towards the project. The function was concluded with a thanksgiving speech by Mrs. Jalaja Sunil, one of the members of the WELivE group. Altogether 56 people were present at the event including representatives of various WELivE SHGs.
The Project inaugural function was followed by a one-hour training session on ‘Egg Poultry Farming’ by Mrs. Nimisha, Associate Professor, Regional Agricultural Research Center and Agricultural College.
