The launch of the Drug Rehabilitation Education And Mentoring (DREAM) programme in Wayanad was held at Don Bosco College, Sultan Bathery on 20 December 2021. The programme was inaugurated by Mr. I C Balakrishnan (MLA, Sultan Bathery).
Mr. T.G Tomy (Asst. Commissioner of Excise, Wayanad) gave the keynote address on ‘Drug Abuse among Youth’. Rev. Fr Thomas Poovelikal sdb (Manager, Don Bosco College, Sultan Bathery), Fr. Joy Ullattil sdb (Principal, Don Bosco College, Sultan Bathery), and Fr. Johnson sdb (District director, DREAM) were also part of the programme. Different cultural events also took place during the programme. The students participated in a bike rally and flash mob organised by the DREAM team, which caught the attention of the local community. As a result, widespread appreciation and support were expressed by the viewers, which augurs well for the community acceptance and support of the DREAM initiative in the near future.
