BREADS approaches young-at-risk situations with both curative and preventive strategies across different locations in Karnataka and Kerala. These strategies provide protection and enabling environments for vulnerable children while also stimulating communities, duty bearers and policy makers to own their respective stakes in protecting children and promoting their rights. BREADS strategies include rescue operations, child protection mechanisms, short-stay homes, home repatriation, foster care, institutional rehabilitation, education, skilling and advocacy. Education is a key strategy, including formal and informal methods tailored for children in these situations.
