World Mental Health Day Celebration at Don Bosco Degree College, Chitradurga

On 14 October 2025, Don Bosco Degree College, Chitradurga, in collaboration with the Centre for Human Intervention and Training in Holistic Rural Action (CHITHRA) and BREADS Bengaluru, organised a special programme to mark World Mental Health Day. The global theme for 2025, “Access to Services: Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies,” highlights the importance of making mental health support available and accessible to all, especially during crises and challenging situations.

The event aimed to raise awareness about mental well-being among young people and to encourage open conversations about emotional health. Mr. Divakar, Mental health Initiative for Nurturing Development and Support (MINDS) Program Coordinator from BREADS, spoke about self-awareness and maintaining a positive outlook on life. Rev. Fr. Christy, Vice Principal of Don Bosco Degree College, reminded everyone that in today’s fast-paced and stressful world, self-care is not a luxury but a necessity. He urged students to make time each day for relaxation and reflection.

The students also presented cultural performances centred on mental health, including a powerful mime performance on mental health and mobile addiction. Around 500 students actively participated in the event, making it both educational and engaging.

Through this joint effort, the celebration succeeded in promoting mental health awareness, encouraging open dialogue and inspiring students to adopt healthier routines. The collaboration between BREADS Bengaluru, CHITHRA and Don Bosco Degree College reaffirmed their shared commitment to building a mentally healthy and supportive campus environment.
