Don Bosco Child Labour Mission (DBCLM), Davangere organized two days workshop on 16th and 17th of June 2017 for the lawyers, police personnel, Gram Panchayati members, anganwadi staff and social workers. Fr. Cyril Sagayaraj SDB inaugurated the workshop and Ms.Yashodha, trainer- Mahila Samakya, Ms.Anitha, an advocate were the resource persons. They conducted training and awareness on gender equality, women empowerment, violence against women, legal provisions for women, role of government stakeholders in protecting the women from violence and abuse. A total of 35 members attended the workshop. Ms.Yashodha focused on explaining gender bias, gender equality, participation of women in politics, public administration. The discussions and group interactions were oriented towards illustrating the existence of gender bias and its effects in our day today life. Ms.Anitha explained in detail about the laws related to women, legal provisions and various government schemes available for women. The activities, role plays, games and group discussions organised in the workshop boosted the participants to uphold gender equality, to voice against violence and abuse, participate in the Gram Sabhas and village justice committee, stop and report occurrences of child marriage and reduce the school dropout rate of girl children in the villages.
