The Blessing and Inauguration of the new English Medium School at Don Bosco Vidhyakshethra Prakashpalaya

The Right to Education Act enacted in 2009 reiterate the importance of free and compulsory education for the children between the age group of 6 to 14 years in India. Yet if we look around at reality, we live in a state of paradoxes. While on one hand, there is unmatched development and growth of opportunities and on the other, even the primary needs such as quality education is only accessible to a few. Being one of the prime determinants of development, education cannot be overlooked at any cost. But the majority of Indian rural villages still face the crises of lack of access/ mobility to education system.

BREADS Bangalore with the support of Misean Cara, Ireland has newly built a school building at Don Bosco Prakashpalaya for the Lower Primary children. The official inauguration and blessing of the school was held on 30th January 2019 by Fr. Joy Nedumparambil, the Executive Director of BREADS, Bangalore. The other dignitaries present for the great event were Fr. Koottungal Varghese, the Rector, Fr. Philip John Paul, the School In charge and Fr. Madalimuthu Udayakumar, the Vice Rector. The staff, children, management and parents were also present for the occasion. The school children presented an excellent feast of cultural programmes in connection with the celebration of the great day. The newly constructed school building has the capacity to accommodate nearly 300 children in addition to the existing 250 children studying in the school.

Prakashpalaya being one of the most remote villages in Karnataka, the inception of the school and a boarding for children facilitated the backward community and the marginalized children to come in to the mainstream of society by offering quality education. The extended facility is expected to raise the standard of the children through quality education in this remote village of Prakashpalaya.
