Taluk Advisory Board Meeting at Hospet

Don Bosco Hospet was a part of momentous meeting held on 2nd April 2016. BREADS’ District level advocacy and liaison with government departments through development partner at Hospet, Bellary. High profile Government officials came together for Taluk Advisory Board meeting with director and staff of Don Bosco Hospet. The officials present were Assistant Commissioner Mr Avinash Menon, Mayor – Mr. Maneer Ahamed, R.V. Jathi – Education Department, Mr. Prabhakar – DWCD, Mr. Ashok – Social Welfare Department, Mr. Dharman Gowda – Health Department, Mr. Basha Sahib – Police Department, DCPO, Executive Officer, Town Commissioner, who actively participated in the meeting. Reintegrating school dropouts back to formal education, radication or prevention of child labour, child marriage and children begging, initializing open shelter for children at Hospet, stringent action by the government officials of issues addressed, monthly raid in the city to rescue children in difficult circumstances, awareness on gender equality to children and officials, regular monitoring visit by block education officer to every schools were the points proposed by Don Bosco for discussion. The Assistant commissioner responded by instructing

  1. Police to give a monthly report in regard with children
  2. DCPO and CDPO to submit a up-to-date monthly report
  3. BEO to do monthly inspection and monitoring visit to every school and submit a report of the same

These instructions are to be followed up in the next Taluk Advisory Board meeting to make sure of the developments in these sectors. Don Bosco took this opportunity to release the Hospet CHILDLINE annual report 2015 – 16 by Assistant Commissioner.
