Children have the power to change and they invariably wish the good of every one irrespective of the situation and consequences. This was very well proved true by the presence and enthusiasm of over 356 children along with the villagers who gathered for the child marriage awareness programme at Thammenahalli, Molkalmuru Taluk, Chitradurga district on 19.07.2018 which was proceeded by an awareness rally flagged off by Ms. Vaishali, District Child Protection Officer (DCPO), Fr, Sony, Director, Chithra Don Bosco, Ms,. Ramullakka, Gram Panchayat President, Mr Chandranna, Vice President, Mr. Hucha Reddy, Head Master, -Mr Bommanna, Social worker cum active social reformer of the village, Mr. S. Balraj, Panchayat Development Officer, Cream staff, DCPU staff, SHG members, Mahila Samakhya staff accompanied the children to go into the nooks and corners of the village shouting slogans making the whole village aware of the need to set a pattern of educating all young and as soon they reached back at the Panchayat office premises the stage was set for an awareness programme with the majority of the villages having gathered under the trees and on benches in the premise. Mr. Manjunath, Social Activist, CREAM project, welcomed the whole gathering and introduced the theme for the day namely child marriage and its deep impact on the society as well as the individual. Ms. Vaishali, invoked every one especially the children to be proactive and it was heart sobbing to see the manner in which the young kids answered boldly with precision every question regarding the laws and consequences. It was Kumari. Kamalamma, 9th standard student and Master. Mahantesh, who took the stage by surprise, boldly and vividly aired their views on child marriage and its ill impacts. Fr. Sony, addressing the audience challenged the children to be blooming and proactive. Mr. Bommana, a village social activist, who passionately concerned about the problems faced by children in the villages constantly, contacted 1098 to inform the right violations and issues faced by children in the villages. The gathering dispersed vouching to be positive and proactive towards the development of the whole village.
