Don Bosco Bhadravati, in collaboration with BREADS Bangalore, proudly inaugurated its tailoring and areca palm leaf plate making programmes on 9 June 2023 at Don Bosco ITI, aiming to bring joy to the lives of the underprivileged residents of Ujjanipura and surrounding villages in Bhadravati taluk, Shivamogga.
The event was graced by the presence of Fr. Christhu Raj Nilogal – Rector, Fr. Sony Mathew – Administrator, Mr. Balraj – Gram Panchayat Manager, Ujjanipura, Mr. Suresh – Panchayat Development Officer, Ujjanipura, as well as the dedicated staff and talented students of Don Bosco ITI.
Mr. Balraj, in his inspiring speech, expressed his unwavering belief in the abundant opportunities awaiting the trainees. He observed that more than 50 flourishing areca palm leaf plate making units in and around Bhadravati signify a thriving industry. The art of tailoring also presents a golden opportunity for these aspiring individuals. The 4-month tailoring course has 25 students enrolled, and the areca plate making is a one-month course with 5 students enrolled. Don Bosco Bhadravati will train a total of 125 youth/women during the year through both these programmes.
The skill training initiatives hold immense promise, equipping the trainees with valuable skills that can pave the way for sustainable livelihoods. Don Bosco Bhadravati and BREADS Bangalore are deeply committed to nurturing the talents of these individuals and fostering a brighter future for the entire community.
