On 3 October 2025, a public awareness programme on legal adoption and child rights was held at the Sharanabasaveshwara temple premises in Kalaburagi. The programme educated the community about legal adoption processes and the promotion of child safety and care during November, which is both International Adoption month and Children’s month.
More than 200 people, including children from various childcare centres, staff members, officials and teams from the District Child Protection Unit, Police Department and Don Bosco, took part in the gathering. A symbolic cradle highlighted the message, “Children are not for the dustbin, they are for the cradle,” reminding everyone of the rights every child to dignity, safety and a nurturing environment. Devotees visiting the temple joined in solidarity by lighting lamps to affirm their support for child protection and legal adoption.
The event was organised by the District Administration in collaboration with the Zilla Panchayat, District Legal Services Authority, Police Department, District Child Protection Unit, District Health and Family Welfare Department, School Education Department, Government and Non-Government Child Care Institutions, Child Helplines 1098 / 112, Don Bosco Kalaburagi, and Gudi Sanstha.
Through this collective effort, the programme strengthened community awareness and encouraged responsible participation in the protection and care of vulnerable children. With BREADS’ support, Don Bosco Kalaburagi remains committed to safeguarding children’s rights and promoting legal and caring family environments across the region.
