BOSCO CREAM Bangalore, as part of the celebration of 25 years of the declaration of United Nations Convention on the Rights of Children (UNCRC), conducted a weeklong awareness programme on the theme ‘my rights and me’ from 9th to 14th November 2014.
Community awareness programme on child rights was conducted in MCT Quarters on 9th in collaboration with child line. The programme has seen thousands of public gathered near the MCTC quarters. Lakshmana, sub Inspector of Byatarayana Pura police station was the chief guest of this programme. Children staged a flash mob and a street plays on the theme ‘my rights and me’
On 10th held an open air drawing competition in Banashankary BMTC Bus station. 20 children from 10 schools have participated for the competition. Child rights awareness by BOSCO CREAM team was also simultaneously conducted during the competition. Almost 500 children gathered in the venue that exceeded till 2 P.M. The street play on child rights was staged to create awareness among public on child rights.
BOSCO CREAM arranged a mass school awareness programme on 11th November 2014 at cooperation school ground, Magadi Road for school children. Almost 1000 children gathered in the venue. Six schools were present during the programme. Street play was conducted by BOSCO children. A speech competition conducted on the theme “Prasthuta Vaathavaranathalli Makkala Rakshane Agathiya” for the children below 18 years. Children from the nearby 6 schools in Magadi Road participated in the speech competition. The street play on child rights was staged to create awareness among children.
BOSCO CREAM team conducted a one day workshop on child rights on 12th November 2014 in Bosco mane and it also discussed the new JJ Act amendment. Child welfare officers and assistant Sub Inspectors were present during the programme. Mr. Alok Kumar, Additional Commissioner of Police, Law and Order, Bangalore City, Mr. Suresh Assistant Commissioner of Police, were present during the programme. 30 police personnel attended the workshop.
Door to door campaign was conducted in Basweshwara Nagar and R G colony and pamphlets were distributed to the public on child rights on 13th November 2014.
