In a heartfelt Mother’s Day tribute, the Kollam Migrant Help Desk (KISMAT project), in collaboration with District Legal Service Authority (DLSA) and a like-minded NGO, Prathyasha for Integrated Social Action at Kottiyam, organised an event on 14 May 2023, which touched many hearts.
Praveen, a young migrant worker, poured out his emotions, saying, “My mom is not a well-educated person, but she knows to love. Whenever I asked for a single roti, she has always provided me with two. Mothers tend to give us more than what we ask for; I really do miss my mom on this Mother’s Day, and I want to thank her from the bottom of my heart.”
The heartwarming celebration witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 50 migrants from various corners of Kollam district. Together, they shared their thoughts and experiences, fostering solidarity among themselves. This remarkable Mother’s Day programme not only recognised the immense love and dedication of migrant mothers but also served as a platform for empowerment and support. The event left everyone touched and inspired, reinforcing the importance of appreciating and cherishing the unwavering love of mothers.
During the event, Mr. Sreekumar (Panel lawyer, DLSA Kollam), conducted an informative session on labour laws and highlighted the crucial role of DLSA in supporting and assisting migrants.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to DLSA Kollam, Prathyasha for Integrated Social Action, and all the participants for making this event a resounding success. Let us continue to honour and cherish our mothers not just on Mother’s Day but every day of the year!
