The Drug Rehabilitation Education and Mentoring (DREAM) programme team in Thiruvananthapuram organised a week-long campaign Mochana, in connection with Gandhi Jayanthi. The programme was inaugurated by Fr Saji Elambasseril (DREAM District Director) on 27 September 2022.
The team spread awareness on the impact of drugs among students and other groups of people through different activities:
- Awareness sessions on substance abuse at SMV Government Model HSS, Thiruvananthapuram.
- Counselling drive at Government High School Kamaleswaram, benefitting 42 students.
- Social awareness drive with the help of the Student Police Cadets (SPC) of the Government High School, Thonnakal. The cadets along with the DREAM staff visited the shops near the school and created awareness among the people by distributing brochures. Around 381 students and public benefitted from the programme.
- In collaboration with the Government High School Poovar, the DREAM team formed a human chain. The event, inaugurated by Shri M Vincent MLA, Kovalam constituency, created awareness among the students, and they took an oath to abstain from taking drugs.
- Awareness programme on the basics of counselling and de-addiction for 148 beat officers of Janamaithri police in Thiruvananthapuram city.
