The Kalyana Karnataka Division-Level Knowledge Partners Conference (KNOCON- 2025), held on 16 February in Raichur, was a significant event that brought together key educational stakeholders from across the region. The two-day event aimed to address the challenges and opportunities in improving the educational landscape in Kalyana Karnataka. This conference featured the participation of Deputy Directors of Public Instruction, members of the District Education and Training Institutes, and the newly formed Expert Committee on Education for Kalyana Karnataka.
A major highlight of the conference was the address delivered by Fr. Kuriakose, Director of the Don Bosco Programme for the Young at Risk (DB PYaR) in Kalaburagi, who spoke on the urgent issue of school dropouts, particularly among children working in the brick industry. Fr. Kuriakose emphasised the critical need for comprehensive rehabilitation and readmission programmes, such as the BREADS-supported Child Safety Net intervention, aimed at reintegrating these vulnerable children into the formal education system. He pointed out that these children, often working under harsh conditions, are at high risk of being left out of education, thereby missing out on crucial opportunities for personal development and future success.
KNOCON-2025 was organised in collaboration with the Commissionerate Office of Kalaburagi, the Department of School Education, and Hutti Gold Mines Company Limited.
