International Women’s Day celebration at Yadagiri

On 8th March 2016 Don Bosco Center for Social Action, Yadagiri organized International Women’s Day Programme, which began with a rally in the town which was inaugurated at the hall of the Women and Child Development Department in Yadagiri at 10.30 am. . The programme was inaugurated by the Deputy Director of Department of Women and Child Development with a speech. Symbolically expressing the desire to help the empowerment of women of our District the DD Mr. Jadhav, Fr.George Kalangara, Fr.Jolly and other guests watered a plant. The participants were Social activists, Anganwadi teachers, Asha Karyakartaru, members of Self Help Groups from the villages from Shahpur and Yadagiri taluks. More than 300 women participated in the Rally Fr. Joshi, Mr. Atiq, Ms. Gouramma and Mrs Renuka made the Rally alive through attractive slogans, very meaningful songs on the Day’s theme and a small talk by Mrs Sharada. At 11.00 am the Rally took off with the waving of the flag by Mr. Jadhav and Mrs Sharada. The Rally passed through the DC’s Office Gate to Shastri Circle and Vidya Mangal Karyalaya. After passing through the market road it reached the Old Bus Stand and ended at Subash Chowk by garlanding the statue of Subhash Chandra Bose.

The whole group of women then moved to Don Bosco, Yadagiri by bus. All women gathered in the function Hall at Don Bosco at 2 pm and stated a short programme to honour a few women who excelled in offering service to the women of Yadagiri District. The Chief Guest for the function was Mr. Jadhave the Deputy Director of the Department of Women and Child Development. The other important guests were SJPO-Mr.Egangouda, Mrs. Nagamma ASI of Police, Mrs.Akkamma Devi, District Coordinator of Ajim Premji Foundation, Mrs.Sharnamma=CDPO, Mrs.Nagamma-Supervisor of Balakara Balamandira, Fr.Saji-the Rector of Don Bosco Institution, Fr. Joshi the principal of B.Ed College and Fr.Jolly the Director of DBCSA Yadagiri. Two Mahila groups – Akkamma Devi group from Kodekal, Priya Darshani Nagara Stri Shakti Sanga from Shahapur- were honoured with shawl and memento by the guest. Mrs. Shardha Taluk Panchayati Trainer, Sabamma and Pushpalata Don Bosco social workers were also honoured during the programme . Mrs. Shardha said today 6 members were honored because of their outstanding service I hope next year there will be more in numbers to receive this honor. First we need to come out of our self and make up our mind that we can do something for the society if you have aim you can do everything. Women’s day came to an end with motivation for women to be empowered and achievers in life.
